A Special Thanks to our Many Supporters !
The Health Care Co-op Federation of Canada exists because of the support of some remarkable individuals and organizations.
For many decades communities in Manitoba, Québec and Saskatchewan co-operated to ensure a wide range of health, wellness and social services and inspired others across Canada. Community First, the first health co-op in BC inspired co-operators including Jan Taylor who brought together all the co-ops and similar organizations in the province.
In 2002 Ian MacPherson led a meeting in Victoria in which health was identified as a sector ripe for increased co-op activity.
In 2011 Doug Wright of The Co-operators and Mark Goldblatt, Canadian Co-op Association, encouraged by Mary Flynn of the Regina Health Co-op and Ian MacPherson in BC, brought together health co-ops from across Canada. They were and are true co-op heroes.
To these individuals (and sadly to the memory of Ian and Mark) and the first member co-ops, the Health Care Co-op Federation of Canada will always owe a huge debt of gratitude. Without them our Federation would not exist.
We have also received much appreciated encouragement from Mauril Bélanger, Hélène LeBlanc, Jo Preston, Co-Chairs of the All Party Parliamentary Caucus on Co-operatives (APPCC), and Djaouida Sellah, M.P. and all the other participants in the Caucus.
After formation we received, and continue to receive, support from outstanding leaders in the co-op community: The Co-operators, Vancity, Affinity, Assiniboine, Co-ops and Mutuals Canada.
We appreciate the on-going encouragement of the RobertCliche Co-op, Beauceville particularly in spreading the word about Hans Kai through our Learning Exchanges.
We have been consistently supported and encouraged by the Canadian Worker Co-op Federation.
