Health Co-operatives across Canada mourn the death of Mauril Bélanger, the long-serving MP for Ottawa-Vanier, August 16 2016 at age 61.
Mauril was diagnosed with ALS, or Lou Gehrig’s disease, following the 2015 federal election. He had been an active champion of co-operatives, and hosted our presentation about Health, Wellness and Social Service Co-ops in 2015 to the Federal All Party Caucus on Co-operatives.
We can best honour his memory, courage and determination by meeting the challenge he gave us: make co-ops the leaders in wellness, health, social services and community-based medical services across Canada.
